Season Format
Each season will be broken down into 3 different kinds of events:

- The first 8 weeks will be one mini tournament held each Saturday beginning at 1 pm PST and running for approximately 3 hours. Signups will be available on the homepage of this website on the Monday after each mini tournament. The cost is $5 per mini tournament, with the chance to play a minimum of 1 and maximum of 2 games. The $5 is to be paid day of via cash or Venmo.

When you sign up for a mini tournament, you are being entered into a pool of players and will be algorithmically assigned onto a team based on your performance from previous mini tournaments. Each mini tournament will require a minimum of 32 signups and a maximum of 40 so that 4 full teams can be fielded. The goal is for each team to be roughly as competitive as every other team. Friday night, you will receive an email with which team you are on, A - D, and what number you are assigned for that team. This is not intended to be your kicking order. On the day of, you will wear a bib with your number on it. This will help identify you should the scorekeeper not know your name.
Tournament format will be team A vs team B, followed by team C vs team D, with the two winning teams playing in the final of the mini tournament to end the day. If your team wins the mini tournament, you will not be required to pay for the next mini tournament you attend. Yes, this means you can theoretically only pay once per season.

If this is your first time playing, don't worry, our panel of kickball experts will provide you with a fair rating when you sign up on the website that will be completely negated and replaced by your performance rating upon competing in your first mini tournament. (NOTE: performance ratings will not be available for public consumption, they are used only on the back end to determine fair team balance and the players headed to the finals.)

- The 9th week of the season will be the finals. The top 12 ranked male/non-binary players and the top 8 ranked women will be invited to play in our finals. There is no cost to play in the finals. Day of, the two highest ranked players in the league will be the captains and will choose teams, schoolyard style, until all players have been selected. These two teams will then play each other in a best of 3, with the first team to win twice being declared the winner. The winning team will receive cash in hand. The size of the prize pool will be determined by many factors, such as how many players sign up each week, if any weeks are missed, etc.

- The 10th and final week of the season will be an open invite tournament where as many people can sign up as would like. The more the merrier. This will be a true celebration of the sport and community here in Sacramento. There will be a potluck for those that wish to contribute, but please know nothing is expected of you other than that you attend if you signed up. The bracket for this tournament will change every season depending on how many sign ups we have, and will not affect your performance rating. This one is all about fun.
